At Santa Ynez Valley Botanic Garden’s annual Earth Day celebration in Buellton, we pride ourselves on making this one of the cleanest, greenest and most sustainably-minded events on the Central Coast, adding new information, excitement, and improving every year as we go. Our notable outdoor successes and efforts include the following:
Eco-Friendly products and services, recycling information, compost/earth worms and mulch programs, save the bees and wild life, native flora and design, alternative energy, green construction, exciting and educational family activities, yoga, arts and crafts, live music, guest speakers, non-profits, food court, beer and wine garden, bicycle repair shop, silent auction, petting zoo, horseback riding through the botanic garden, precious stones, furniture made of refurbished wood, wine-barrel furniture, and much more.
To cut down on waste during the event, organizers request the use of compostable utensils and food ware by our food vendors. We ask that visitors bring their reusable water bottles to fill at any of the water stations. Don’t forget to bring reusable bags and fill them with all kinds of exciting information and treasures.
If you live near Riverview Park, consider riding your bicycle to the event, and give it a tune-up while you are have fun.
With an event of this size, we recognize that there will be environmental impacts regardless of how much we try. If you have suggestions on how we can improve, please let us know! In the meantime, join us and take advantage of all the festival has to offer.
